Jairo Antonio Melo-Flórez is a historian and digital humanist specializing in the history of crime and justice in Latin America (18th–20th centuries) and the design of digital infrastructures for historical research. He currently serves as the Digital Humanities Research Facilitator at the UC Santa Barbara Library, where he supports data-driven, open-access projects across disciplines. His research bridges archival theory, metadata modeling, and platform design, with a focus on how Latin American perspectives challenge dominant archival epistemologies.
