Bladimir Carabalí holds a PhD in Demography from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. He is a postdoctoral fellow at the CSAAD at New York University and currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Black Studies Research at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His scholarly work centers on the study of structural inequalities affecting Afro-Colombian communities. His research examines the demographic impacts of armed conflict, with particular emphasis on mortality patterns among the predominantly Black population of Colombia’s Pacific Coast—a region shaped by long-standing processes of social exclusion, racial inequality, and state abandonment.
